dataplex Director Urges Business To Look Ahead
2nd March 2010
dataplex is urging business and the public sector to look ahead as the recession begins to wane.
Charles Barratt, the new business development and marketing director at dataplex, believes a reappraisal of data centre technology could safeguard the economy against troubled times in the future.
dataplex is the UK’s leading independent information and communications technology company, providing IT solutions to industry, business and government.
Barratt, aged 34, from Poynton, has just been promoted to the dataplex board. He is a former pupil of Poynton High School and a computing and business graduate from Cardiff University. He joined dataplex six years ago and previously worked for Mason Communications (Analysys Mason) in Manchester and Leeds-based Everlogic (Azzuri).
Barratt said:
“With the recession appearing to be on the wane, this is the time for business and government to audit what’s happening in their data centres so that they can press forward with an improved return on their IT investment. This is the ideal time to seize the opportunity to check that computer technology is doing the best job for your business.”
Barratt was speaking after Prime Minister Gordon Brown warned that the economy still faced "bumps in the road" and the recovery would be at risk if the wrong decisions were taken.
Barratt said:
“Companies and government bodies need to plan ahead and take decisions now which will protect revenues in the future. For example, embracing greener technology can bring benefits, not just for the planet but also for revenues. A more eco-friendly data centre can mean huge budget savings – sometimes as high as 15 per cent on the energy bill.”
Commenting on his promotion to the boardroom at dataplex, Barratt added:
“I am immensely proud to have joined the board of dataplex. We are a young and dynamic company with exciting times ahead. This is an extremely creative and rewarding industry to work in and I relish the challenge of helping companies to improve their IT efficiency.
dataplex managing director, Richard Sparrow, said:
“Charles has been always been a hard-working and imaginative member of our team and we’re delighted to see him step up to a role in the boardroom. A key element of our company’s business ethic is to develop and promote our staff and Charles epitomises what dataplex is all about. We’re passionate about helping business and government work more efficiently.”
