TAKE THE IT ROUTE TO HEADING OFF GOVERNMENT CUTS
18th May 2010
COMPANIES and the public services could offset the effects of promised government cuts by revising their commitment to information technology, according to dataplex, the ICT specialists, based in Manchester and Witney, Oxfordshire.
With the country braced for £6 billion worth of public sector cuts next week by George Osborne, the new Chancellor of the Exchequer, dataplex believes jobs could be saved and savings made through what the information technology industry calls ‘tiered virtualisation’.
dataplex will be highlighting its expertise in the field at The Chief Fire Officers Association ICT Managers Conference in Reading on May 25 and 26, where the theme of the two-day event is: “ICT Strategies To Deliver More For Less”.
Charles Barratt, dataplex marketing director, said: “Many areas of the public sector are spending huge amounts of money on IT and yet the technology exists, through new innovations like virtualisation and cloud computing, for instance, to drastically reduce costs.
“These new solutions can also cut energy and power costs which also contribute to greener ways of working.
“We can help companies, the public services, local authorities and even government departments to revise the way in which they use IT.”
dataplex, the UK’s leading independent ICT company, employs 50 people and works within business, industry and the public sector, including the police, emergency services, local councils, education and the NHS.
The dataplex team will be available at The Chief Fire Officers Association ICT Managers Conference, at the Microsoft headquarters on the Thames Valley Business Park in Reading, on May 25th and 26th.
